باد منجیل یکی از پدیده­های آب‌وهوایی ایران است که در پهنه‌ای کوچک از  جنوب‌غربی دریای کاسپین و شمال‌ ایران می‌وزد. رفتار روزانه به نسبه ثابت این باد که با جهت مشخص و شدت بالا می‌وزد، سبب شده که نخستین نیروگاه بادی کشور برای بهر‌ه‌گیری از انرژی بادی در این منطقه احداث شود. در این مطالعه برای شناسایی سامانه‌های همدید موثر بر وزش این باد داده‌های واکاوی مجدد مرکز جو و اقیانوس‌شناسی ایالات متحده در طی دوره 2020-1980 مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. در ابتدا با استفاده از این داده­ها گرادیان فشاری تراز دریا بین شمال و جنوب البرز به‌صورت روزانه استخراج و با داده­های شدت باد در ایستگاه منجیل مورد مقایسه قرار گرفت. سپس الگوی همدید باد در طی ماه‌های مختلف سال استخراج شد. میانگین درازمدت الگوی فشار تراز دریا در مقیاس همدید نشان می‌دهد نفوذ زبانه سامانه پرفشار سیبری به نیمه شمالی ایران در ماه‌های سرد سال و نفوذ زبانه سامانه پرفشار آزور از سمت غرب اروپا به سواحل جنوبی دریای کاسپین در ماه‌های گرم، عامل شکل‌گیری جریان‌های شمال‌سوی در مسیر دره سفیدرود است. در دورۀ گرم سال گسترش نصف‌النهاریِ کم‌فشار‌ موسمی پاکستان و کم‌فشار حرارتی عربستان تا نیمه فلات ایران، موجب تقویت کم‌فشار حرارتی فلات ایران و افزایش شیو فشاری و تندی وزش باد می‌شود. تغییرهای فشاری درازمدت برای ساعت‌های بیشینه تندی باد (12 UTC) و کمینه تندی باد (00UTC )، تاثیرپذیری سازوکار شکل‌گیری باد منجیل را از شرایط حرارتی و تابش دریافتی دو سوی رشته‌کوه البرز به ویژه گرمایش فلات ایران طی ساعت‌های روز نشان می‌دهد. تنگ‌شدگی دره سفیدرود به عنوان واداشت ثانویه، عامل اصلی کانالیزه شدن و تندی وزش باد منجیل است.
